Double glazed glass

Double Glazing

Double Glazing is used to improve the energy efficiency and comfort in buildings. Another benefit of Double Glazing is in the reduction of noise transmission.
Double Glazing is, put simply, two panels of glass, separated by a space, instead of just a single panel of glass in a window or door.

In a Double Glazing system a pocket of air is trapped, in a hermetically sealed gap, between two glass panels and it is this trapped air that creates an insulating medium.

Why Double Glazing Conversions?
There are many methods used to form a double glazing system but Double Glazing Conversions ONLY use the highest standard of factory sealed insulating glass units available today.
The most important aspect in the factory manufacturing of the Insulating Glass Units is the integrity of the sealing of the internal air space. Failure of this seal can lead to condensation within the insulating glass unit.
Our high quality Insulating Glass Units are primary and secondary sealed under controlled conditions in the factory.
If requested, an inert gas, such as argon, is used to fill the internal space between the glass panels to further improve the insulation.
The space between the glass panels is created by the inclusion of a hollow spacer bar at the perimeter. This spacer bar, that is filled with a desiccant material, is bonded to both glass panels. The function of the desiccant material is similar to that of silica gel often found inside camera and instrument cases.
Acting through tiny perforations the desiccant will absorb and permanently lock away any residual water vapor resulting in only totally dry air within the sealed space between the glass panels. Trapped dry air is a very good insulator and internal condensation is not possible.

Once these are properly installed, the structural sealant of these glazing systems forms a continuous, waterproof seal against leakage and air infiltration. Wind load movement is transmitted to the structure by the sealant and spacer. These systems also withstands flexure, tension, compression and differential thermal shear stresses.

Now a day’s structural glazing is becoming a best option for curtain, storefront installation, and windows amongst the other glazing options because of its easy to install, anti-leakage to water and air penetration. The sealant and spacer pass on the wind pressure to the formation and provides greater flexibility, pressure management, solidity, thermal stress balancing capabilities.
our expertise with the structural glazing competes on the following points:
* Sealant performance
* Air and water infiltration
* Structural requirement
* The energy efficiency factor
* OOTV concept
* Laminated glass performance
* Safety and security parameters enforcement
* Reduction in sound
* Solar radiation and heat control
* Low visible distortion
The above criteria make the structural glazing critical to be implemented and require a specialist to look at.
